Country-specific programs
Many countries fund their own researchers to do a postdoc abroad. If you are a citizen of, or did your PhD in, a country with such a program, please check with its research council or foundation for current eligibility and deadlines. Some we know of:
- Austria: FWF Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship (rolling)
- Belgium: BAEF Research Fellowship (October 31, 2026)
- Canada: Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship (September 2026, exact date varies by agency); Canada Postdoctoral Research Award (October 17, 2026)
- Denmark: DFF International Postdoctoral Grant (November 5, 2026); Carlsberg Foundation Internationalisation Fellowships (April 1, 2027)
- Germany: Walter Benjamin Programme (DFG) (rolling); Humboldt Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship (rolling; selection in February, June and October)
- Israel: Rothschild Fellowships (nominated by Israeli universities, 2027–28 round)
- Japan: JSPS Overseas Research Fellowships (see the FY2027 guidelines)
- Netherlands: NWO Rubicon (December 1, 2026)
- Sweden: Swedish Research Council International Postdoc (September 15, 2026); Wenner-Gren Fellows (January 31, annually)
- Switzerland: SNSF Postdoc.Mobility (February 2, 2027; final call August 3, 2027)
- Turkey: TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (September 15, 2026)
